Leah Leggett of Prudential Blanton Properties was named the 2012 Realtor of the Year at the Athens Area Association of Realtors Annual Awards Banquet, which was held at the Athens Country Club on February 21, 2013. The purpose of this award is to recognize the Realtor member of the Athens Area Association of Realtors who has provided outstanding service to his/her profession and to the community at large. The last three calendar years of Leggett’s accomplishment and actives were considered in naming her the “best representative of the real estate profession.”
Leggett is a 2001 graduate of the University of Georgia and has been a licensed Georgia Realtor since 2004 and an Associate Broker since 2008. She has earned several Real Estate designations including the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), and Short Sales and Foreclosure Specialist (SFR). Leggett has previously received many other awards including the Good Neighbor Award, Entrepreneur of the Year, the Rising Star Award and the YPN Young Achievers Award.
Leggett is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Georgia Association of Realtors where she actively serves on several committees. She is very involved with the Georgia Women’s Council of Realtors as the State President Elect. She is also on the Board of Directors of Athens Area Association of Realtors and is the current President of the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) Board of Directors. She helped charter the local chapter of the FUEL Young Professionals Network in 2011 and is still actively involved.
In addition to her substantial contributions to professional organizations, Leggett also lends her time and talents to her community. She serves on the Board of Directors for Keep Athens Clarke County Beautiful as the current President and Ex-Officio for the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Athens Canine Rescue as the Public Relations Coordinator.

The Athens Chapter WCR is participating in the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia’s 1st Annual “Hunger Bowl” contest, which will run from Nov 5-16. The “Hunger Bowl” is a friendly community wide competition to see who can collect the most food based upon a per person average and to help the Food Bank reach their goal of collecting 50,000 pounds of food in the 2 weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. The 2012 Athens Chapter President, Brenda Thompson, attended the Kick-off Breakfast that was held the morning of Nov 2 at the Holiday Inn.
Our First, and hopefully now annual Oktoberfest was a huge success!! It was a great night – the weather was perfect. Brand Mortgage did a fantastic job of cooking Brats and providing our music! We had a great turnout from our Realtor community and local community. Everyone enjoyed Brats, pretzels and German beer and even some “polka music”.
